the Masunaga 001: Subtle green and brown tones of the frame front is paired with glossy black temples
Soft-edged square frame with sleek titanium temples: this marriage of acetate and metal is another fantastic frame by Dita. Starting with their first eyewear collection in 1996, Dita represents a design collaboration between two lifelong friends, Jeff Solorio and John Juniper. The company has headquarters in Los Angeles, California, while their frames are all handmade in Japan. Dita combines the finest quality and modern materials with a vintage-inspired look, re-stylizing trends in eyewear from the 50s through to the 80s. This particular example, the Winston, is available at Gafas Optical Shop in smooth Black with Matte Black temples, or Dark Tortoise and Burnt Brown with Matte Gun Metal temples.

New arrival at Gafas: Dasha by Salt Optics.
California-based optical company Salt has had us falling in love with their minimalist style and impeccable quality since their conception in 2006, and “Dasha” exhibits more of the same exquisite design. The thick acetate frame in a snow leopard Havana colour combined with the classic shape creates an accessory just bold enough to catch your eye. This pair would look fantastic both as an optical frame or with brown polarized sunglass lenses.
Celebrities spotted at Gafas! This morning our storefront set the scene for the television pilot of “Love is Dead,” starring Ben Rappaport (Outsourced), Janina Gavankar (True Blood) and Khary Payton (Young Justice). The sidewalk was a hive of activity and cameramen ducked in our doorway to achieve the perfect angle. Taxicabs rolled by on Queen Street West, playing the role of New York City.
We’re hoping to get a glimpse of Gafas on tv next season! Keep your eyes open for the new comedy “Love is Dead.”
